MM6 and The North Face join forces to reimagine the past.

In an attempt to honor history and reimagine longstanding trademarks and design, MM6, daughter of famed fashion house Maison Margiela, and The North Face have joined forces in a unique and unconventional collaboration to push boundaries, and explore how to blend the avant-garde and the technical.
Now available, the collection – which includes padded circle coats, jackets, a top, and accessories – boasts the conceptual rigor of MM6 while maintaining the performance-based functional ethos of The North Face. Working to reimagine The North Face’s 1990 Expedition System line, which was designed to be detachable and layered for optimal performance, the revamp is deconstructed and reconstructed within the context of the signature Margiela circle echoed in the brand’s landmark Spring 1998 collection. Building on the functionality of the original Expedition System collection, the designs integrate a system of hinges allowing for the functional overlapping of multiple pieces in the collection. The bold palette is color-blocked with The North Face’s signature colors; cobalt blue, purple, bottle green, red, orange, and yellow, resulting in vibrant gender flexible and customizable designs.
With the design process diving deep into both brand’s historical archives, Margiela’s iconic circle motif lends another meaning, one of evolution and innovation.
